What is a Mentor Organisation?

A Mentor Organisation is a company or organisation that will mentor or assist a Virtual Enterprise. The Virtual Enterprise will basically mimic its operations. Mentoring a Virtual Enterprise can involve activities such as assisting its establishment, and identifying relevant industry standards. Mentor Organisations are free to provide:

  • Information about the business
  • Guided tours for students and teachers
  • Advice on business problems
  • Samples of products, forms, service manuals,  etc.
  • Ideas for project work
  • Work placements for students
  • In-house training for the Virtual Enterprise  teachers (Business Consultant/Facilitators)

Working with a Virtual Enterprise can provide benefits to a mentor organisation. A Virtual Enterprise promotes the Mentor Organisation's product or service on a national and international basis. It can be a potential source of new employees, thereby reducing recruitment and induction costs for the business. Students can also undertake useful market research or trial new systems.

Mentor Organisations are very supportive of HKNVE. They are very happy to take part in every activity, including the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Hong Kong first 7 Virtual Enterprises in June 2000.
Mentor Organisations and VE students can develop friendly, beneficial and stable relationships.

HKNVE is a simulated business environment used for training purposes.
The goods and services are virtual.
Trading within the network is only available to registered Virtual Enterprises.
