Symposium - Virtual Enterprise: Employability Skills and Life-Wide Learning

On Sat., 9 March, 2002, HKNVE held a symposium on "Virtual Enterprise: Employability Skills and Life-Wide Learning" at IVE - Tsing Yi. This symposium was open to all VE students, students of the Millenium Entrepreneurship Programme, and other students from IVE. Key speakers consisted of Mr. Eddy K.S. Wu, General manager of Chiaphua Industries Limited and Mr. Tony Hui, President of Rotary Club NT who spoke on "What makes a successful employee", Ms. Mina Yip from the Teaching & Learning Centre of VTC, Mrs. Irene Ho of HKNVE and Mr. HP Sou, Chief Curriculum Development Officer of Education Department. The students learned that in addition to book knowledge, they need to have employability skills such as problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability integrate knowledge and skills in the workplace. They also learned that the best way to acquire such skills is through operating a Virtual Enterprise. At the end of the symposium, the audience was invited to visit the booths displayed by IVE students during the occasion of the Open Day, and to engage in trading with the VE's on the premises.
