Ms. Linzi Kemp from United Arab Emirates visited HKNVE from 3-6 December 2002. Ms. Kemp is a lecturer from Sharjah Men's College of Higher Colleges of Technology who is interested in the concept of Virtual Enterprise and would like to introduce this innovative learning module to her college.
The Central Office of HKNVE and Mrs. Mitzi Leung, Principal of IVE (Morrison Hill), gave Ms. Kemp a warm welcome. In order to make Ms. Kemp more familiar with the VE concept, Mrs. Irene Lau from the Central Office introduced their operations; VE facilitators from the Department of Business Services and Management, IVE (Morrison Hill) including Mrs. Elaine Wong, Ms. Regina Tam, Mr. Ringo Chan, Mr. Patrick Law and 2 students, Thomas Lee and Julia Lim shared their experiences whereas Mr. Joe Chan explained the use of on-line registration, members' area, e-banking and e-trading system.
Ms. Kemp also visited Tsing Yi and Kwun Tong campuses. In Tsing Yi, Ms. Judy Ng gave a presentation on using simulation (and the Virtual Enterprise concept) in teaching and learning at BSM (Tsing Yi) while two VEs, namely Metro Bus and Fusion Cafe, presented their business plans professionally which impressed Ms. Kemp a lot. In addition, Ms. Evon Ying, Head of Department of Business Services and Management, IVE (Tsing Yi), Ms. Judy Ng and other VE facilitators had a lunch meeting with Ms. Kemp where Ms. Ying presented a souvenir to Ms. Kemp.
In Kwun Tong, Ir. Kevin Ko, Principal of Kwun Tong campus, exchanged ideas with Ms. Kemp before discussions were held with Ms. Alice Cheng, VE facilitator of BSM (Kwun Tong), and four VE students. They shared what they have learnt from the VE project, mentioned some problems they have encountered and how they resolved them.
Ms. Kemp enjoyed her visit with HKNVE and now she has more insight into the
world of Virtual Enterprise. When she goes back to U.A.E., she will start developing
the Virtual Enterprise system in her college. In the near future, it will be
a remarkable progress as Hong Kong VEs may have tradings with VEs in U.A.E.
