Mr. Lau Yuk Kan, Mr. Chu Sui Keung and Miss Lau Mei Chi of Queen Elizabeth School Old Students' Association Secondary School visited HKNVE on 9 January 2003. Queen Elizabeth School Old Students' Association Secondary School is a grammar secondary school located in Tin Shui Wai. As the school will start to teach Business Studies in their A-level curriculum in the coming September, Mr. Lau, Mr. Chu and Miss Lau are trying to investigate the feasibility of implementing the Virtual Enterprise learning model in their school, as a practical means to reinforce studentsˇ¦ ability in applying business concepts learnt in class. In order to provide more relevant information for their reference and consideration, Mrs. Irene Lau of the HKNVE Central Office introduced the VE concept and ways of implementation in secondary schools in details.
After that, Circle Pie VE of IVE (Morrison Hill), accompanied by their facilitator, Ms. Regina Tam, gave an excellent presentation to the visitors. Department heads of Circle Pie VE first introduced their company background, scope of services and range of products. Then they gave a brief analysis on their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats before presenting a financial forecast.
In sharing their opinion and experience on VE with visitors, students pointed out that one of the difficulties they encountered when setting up and operating their VE was disagreement among the VE "employees", especially when decisions have to be made. They believe VE is a very good means for them to learn about teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills. They think the VE experience enables them to equip themselves for the real business world by practicing business concepts in running their simulated business.
After the student presentation, there was a Q&A session during which Ms. Tam gave detailed explanation and suggestions on VE implementation.
HKNVE takes this opportunity to thank the visitors for their interest in VE.
More importantly, we hope that the meeting is helpful for them in considering
implementation of VE in their school.
