The Summer Virtual Enterprise Training Programme 2003 Awards Day & Closing Ceremony was held on 18 Oct (Sat) at the Assembly Hall of IVE (Morrison Hill). The event was a big success and over 300 attendees from education and business participated. It was a great honour to have Prof. Cheng Kai Ming, Senior Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor & Chair Professor of Education, as the keynote speaker.
Prof. Cheng talked about "Learning in Knowledge Society" and explored the relationship between learning and working in today¡¦s society. Then, students from the Overall Champion, Hang Seng School of Commerce, introduced their business plan and Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo), the Champion of Best in Creativity, shared their successful experience respectively.
Apart from students and educators, business professionals also showed great support to the Programme. One of the business mentors, Mr. Louis Leung from the Wing On CPA & Associates, shared his interesting "win-win" experience through interacting with students in the Programme.
Finally, Mr. Arthur Shek from the Hong Kong Economic Times, gave an inspiring talk on "starting up a business". The Ceremony ended with the closing remarks by Mr. Alexander Mak, Chairman of the HKNVE Steering Committee.
In parallel to the Ceremony, the Display Panel Competition was held to allow students to introduce their virtual enterprises and display their products on the display panels. Students from 12 secondary schools took part in the Competition. Guests showed great interest in their displays and talked to students to find out more details. Guests also voted for their favourite panels after careful consideration. The Competition was very keen and the highest award finally went to Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo).
It is now time to bid farewell to all the enthusiastic participants of the Summer Virtual Enterprise Training Programme 2003. The organizers would like to express their gratitude to all supporting organizations, sponsors and participants for their active participation and generous support. See you next summer!
